What is a Mom2Mom Sale?
A mom to mom sale is a large indoor sale where moms can rent tables to sell their children's outgrown gently used items to other moms and dads. They are a great place for new expectant moms to find maternity wear, baby carriers, baby gear, cribs, bassinets, bouncers, and items that moms and new baby may need. They are great for keeping up with growing children's need for clothing, toys, and furniture. Often children outgrow their clothes, shoes, toys and equipment before it can be worn out and replacing those items at a Mom2Mom sale can allow moms to save money. Mom2Mom sales are a great way to get the items you want for your baby and children through age 12 or so (some sales are specific only to size 8 clothing) at a fraction of the cost! Often times there may even be "new with tags" items.
There are two types of Mom 2 Mom Sales. The first is a sale where a mom rents a table/booth space to directly sell her items. The only cost for mom is the rental of the table/booth space. Moms are responsible to set up and display their items for sale. Mom keeps all of her sales. These types of sales may have a large item area where large items may be sold. Some sales may require all large items to be in the large item area. Each sale has its own policies. It is important to know the policies of the sale you are selling it. Typically these sales are between 4 to 6 hours in duration.
The second type of Mom 2 Mom Sale is a consignment sale. Consignment sales allow moms to not be directly involved in the selling of their items. Many consignment sales offer a "VIP" tagging if a Mom does not want to take the time to tag items. These sales provide anywhere from 40 to 80 percent of the sale price to the Consignor, depending on the choice of consignment. These sales often run for multiple days.
Some Mom to Mom Sales are organized to benefit a church, school, child care center, municipality, or non-profit organization. Other Mom2Mom Sales are organized by for-profit businesses to give moms the opportunity to sell at a large sales event. Each venue can have a different set of rules. Some sales allow moms who sell new products, crafts or services to rent a table, although this is limited to a certain number of spaces. These moms are usually classified as vendors. Other sales only allow moms to sell resale items. Many Mom to Mom Sales have a limit of new item vendors to keep their mom 2 mom sale as a place where moms come to sell what their families no longer need and purchase what their families need now.
Many Mom to Mom Sales have large item rooms or big ticket rooms. These rooms are filled with large items for babies through teen such as strollers, travel systems, cribs, bassinets, bouncers, exersaucers, swings, ride on toys, as well as items that are too big to fit easily at seller's tables such as desks, play yards, play structures, play kitchens, play workbenches, furniture, and other large toys and gear.
Often Mom2Mom Sales will have an EARLY BUY (usually designated by "EB" on our list) for those customers who want first pick of the large items available for sale. Many early buy lines start an hour or two before the start of the sale. Strollers may not allowed during early buys so that serious shoppers are not hindered, as there may be a mad dash for items during this first 1/2 hour to hour of the sale. Also, many Mom2Mom sales charge slightly more for their customers to shop the early buy.
To the best of our information, Mom2Mom sales began in southeast Michigan and have slowly spread to other areas of the country and Canada. This website is to help moms all over Michigan, and our neighboring states, to enjoy the benefits of Mom2Mom Sales taking place throughout Michigan.
